Abstract Summary
Laparoscopic hysterectomy produces smaller scars than open surgery, but patients report lower body image satisfaction despite higher scar satisfaction. While laparoscopy resulted in significantly smaller scar areas, visible multiple port sites may negatively impact body perception. Surprisingly, physician scar assessments showed no difference between techniques, highlighting a gap between clinical and patient perspectives.
Why Brain? ๐ง
Laparoscopic hysterectomy produces smaller scars than open surgery, but patients report lower body image satisfaction, possibly due to multiple port sites. Better preoperative counseling about scarring is needed.
