Abstract Summary

Study of 9,645 U.S. mental health facilities reveals only 42% offer smoking cessation counseling—critical since tobacco use is highest among those with mental health conditions. Public facilities are significantly more likely to provide these services than private for-profit (30% less likely) or non-profit counterparts, raising concerns as mental healthcare privatization expands.

Why Brain? 🧠

Public mental health facilities offer more smoking cessation services than private ones, raising concerns as healthcare privatization grows among vulnerable populations with high smoking rates.
