Abstract Summary

A single injection of liposomal cannabidiol provided pain relief for up to 4 weeks in dogs with osteoarthritis. The liposomal formulation achieved sustained CBD blood levels and significantly improved pain, lameness, and behavior compared to placebo. Minor side effects included temporary fever and injection site swelling. This slow-release approach overcomes CBD’s poor oral bioavailability and shows promise as a long-acting treatment option.

Why Brain? ๐Ÿง

Liposomal CBD injections provided sustained pain relief for up to 4 weeks in dogs with osteoarthritis, offering a promising long-acting alternative to oral CBD with better bioavailability and fewer doses needed.

Study Limitations:

Small sample size of eight client-owned dogs
Larger clinical cohort required to further assess benefits and safety
