Abstract Summary
A blueberry-enriched diet protected kidneys and lowered blood pressure in hypertensive rats. After 6-12 weeks, rats showed improved kidney function, reduced oxidative stress, and enhanced antioxidant defenses. Interestingly, short-term exposure (2 days) initially increased oxidative stress—a “hormetic” response that triggered long-term protective benefits.
Why Brain? 🧠
Blueberry-enriched diet reduces kidney damage in hypertensive rats by lowering oxidative stress, improving blood pressure and kidney function, suggesting natural antioxidants may help prevent hypertension-related organ injury.
