Abstract Summary
In prisons with high drug-resistant TB, WHO’s standard retreatment regimen showed concerning results: only 74% of patients cleared infection, while 18% failed treatment. Most failures stemmed from inadequate drug regimens for resistant strains, though mixed infections and reinfection also played roles. Drug resistance worsened in 3.4% of cases, highlighting the need for better treatment strategies in high-resistance settings.
