Abstract Summary

MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry proves highly effective for distinguishing pathogenic Nontypable Haemophilus influenzae from H. haemolyticus—a critical clinical challenge. While standard databases identified only 77% of NTHi strains, an enhanced database with Chinese strains achieved 100% accuracy for both species, outperforming traditional methods in speed and throughput.
