Researchers identified key chemokine receptors on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that guide their migration to injury sites. Both mouse and human bone marrow MSCs expressed similar receptors—CCR6, CCR9, CXCR3, and CXCR6—which were functionally active in directing cell movement. This discovery explains how MSCs naturally home to damaged tissues and supports their use in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering applications.
