Abstract Summary
FibroTest, a non-invasive alternative to liver biopsy, accurately predicts liver fibrosis in hepatitis B patients. However, this study of 330 Asian patients found discordance in 9.1% of cases, primarily underestimating fibrosis severity. Advanced fibrosis (F3-4) was the only independent predictor of mismatch, with discordance rates five times higher in severe cases.
Why Brain? 🧠
FibroTest underestimates advanced liver fibrosis (F3-4) in 9% of Asian chronic hepatitis B patients compared to biopsy, potentially missing critical cases needing treatment.
