Abstract Summary

In a study of 30 liver abscess patients in India (96% amoebic), no single factor predicted need for early aspiration. However, patients with multiple risk factors—age ≥55 years, abscess ≥5cm, and bilateral involvement—showed a trend toward requiring earlier intervention (60% vs 25%). While limited by sample size, findings suggest a combined-risk model may better identify candidates for early aspiration than individual predictors alone.

Why Brain? 🧠

Study identifies combined clinical factors (age ≥55, abscess ≥5cm, bilateral involvement) that may predict need for early aspiration in liver abscesses, potentially improving treatment decisions.
