Abstract Summary

Higher childhood BMI is linked to earlier puberty onset in both boys and girls. However, analysis of 156,835 Danish children born 1930-1969 reveals that pubertal timing has declined across all weight categories, suggesting factors beyond the obesity epidemic drive this secular trend toward earlier maturation.

Why Brain? 🧠

Earlier puberty linked to higher childhood weight, but obesity alone doesn’t explain the decades-long trend toward younger puberty in 156,835 Danish children studied from 1930-1969.
