Abstract Summary
A novel multi-component vaccine (TcVac2) shows promise against Chagas disease, a parasitic infection endemic in Latin America. Using DNA-prime/protein-boost strategy with cytokine adjuvants, the vaccine triggered strong type 1 immune responses in mice, controlling acute parasites and preventing chronic heart damage. Vaccinated mice showed no detectable tissue parasitism or cardiac fibrosis, unlike controls.
Why Brain? ðŸ§
TcVac2 vaccine successfully protected mice against Chagas disease by triggering strong immune responses that controlled parasites and prevented heart damage, offering hope for a human vaccine.
