Abstract Summary
Dual-device closure of the left atrial appendage shows promise for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation patients with complex anatomy. In 10 patients with multilobed appendages, implanting two Amplatzer devices achieved 100% technical success with no strokes or device complications at one year. However, 30% developed pericarditis, suggesting this approach requires careful patient selection.
Why Brain? 🧠
Dual-device closure of complex heart appendages prevents stroke in atrial fibrillation patients with challenging anatomy, showing feasibility but increased pericarditis risk in this pioneering study.
