Abstract Summary
Chronic stroke survivors can achieve meaningful motor recovery years after their stroke by overcoming learned helplessness through intensive rehabilitation. Studies show that high-intensity protocols (3-6 hours daily vs. traditional 30-45 minutes) produce equivalent results in both high-tech European and human-intensive African settings, proving expensive technology isn’t essential—skilled therapeutic expertise is key.
