Abstract Summary
Regular sports activity for at least 3 hours weekly significantly reduces fracture risk in older men. A 35-year study of 2,205 men found sedentary individuals had 2.5 times higher hip fracture risk compared to active men. Researchers estimate one-third of all hip fractures could be prevented through regular physical activity, with only 8.4% of highly active men experiencing hip fractures versus 20.5% in sedentary men.
