Abstract Summary
Ghana’s under-five mortality has steadily declined over 40 years, accelerating since 2000. Key factors include bed net use (29% risk reduction), birth spacing, and maternal education. Increased bed net coverage significantly contributed to mortality decline. With continued scale-up of proven interventions, Ghana could achieve its MDG 4 target of 45-69 deaths per 1,000 live births by 2015.
