Insufficient sleep affects more than just energy levels. A large US study of 372,144 adults found that those reporting inadequate rest all month had significantly higher odds of cardiovascular disease (67% increase), coronary heart disease (69%), stroke (51%), diabetes (31%), and obesity (51%) compared to well-rested individuals—highlighting sleep as a critical factor in chronic disease prevention.
