Abstract Summary

Febuxostat, a potent xanthine oxidase inhibitor, failed to significantly reduce blood pressure in DOCA-salt hypertensive rats despite effectively blocking the enzyme. While long-term treatment showed minimal vascular improvements, the study concludes that xanthine oxidase inhibition alone is insufficient to combat hypertension in this model.

Why Brain? 🧠

Febuxostat, a potent xanthine oxidase inhibitor, failed to significantly reduce blood pressure in hypertensive rats, suggesting XO inhibition alone may be insufficient for treating salt-sensitive hypertension.
