Abstract Summary
Elevated troponin levels are common in hemodialysis patients, especially with sensitive assays. This study of 239 stable patients found detectable troponin in all subjects, with 95% exceeding normal thresholds for troponin T versus only 14% for troponin I. Both markers correlated with cardiac function and dialysis parameters, strongly predicting mortality risk over two years.
Why Brain? 🧠
Sensitive troponin assays detect elevated levels in nearly all hemodialysis patients. Both troponin T and I predict mortality risk, helping identify high-risk dialysis patients needing closer monitoring.
